The Planning Department ensures that the long range land use planning for the Township follows the defined goals of the community through review of all development activity.  They are also responsible for maintaining the comprehensive land use map.  The Planning Department also provides professional administrative staff to the Planning Commission with duties including preparation of agendas, public notification and processing of all rezoning and special use requests.

The Planning Department is located in the Township administration office, 353 N. 120th Avenue, Holland Michigan.

The following are the most common requests to the Planning Commission:

Group Day Care Home - a request to use a property for a group day care home (6 or more children).

Home Occupation  - a request to run a business out of your home.  Only certain businesses will qualify.

Planned Unit Development (PUD)- a request for generally larger developments that require some flexibility from the Zoning Provisions to achieve higher densities, more green space, or unique road configurations.

Rezoning - a request to change a property from one zoning district to another zoning district.
