Can leaves and grass clippings be burned in the Township? |
Answer: |
No, the Township does not allow burning of leaves or grass clippings even if you have a burning permit. The Township has designated dates set for leaf drop-off at various locations throughout the Township. (Location's will be published in the Holland Sentinel or you can pick up a pamphlet at the Township Office) |

Who needs a burning permit and how can I get one? |
Answer: |
Anyone who wants to burn branches and/or brush needs to have a burning permit. Permits can be obtained by calling the Township Office at 395-0196, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Permits are issued for up to three days, contingent on weather conditions. |

Are Burn Barrels legal? |
Answer: |
No. Holland Charter Township officially adopted a burning ordinance on May 15, 2008 and effective June 1, 2008 that states open burning of refuse in burn barrels is prohibited. |

No. Open burning requiring a burning permit is not allowed the following months: May, June, July and August. |
