HOLLAND CHARTER TOWNSHIP PLANNING COMMISSION

Special Meeting

July 18, 2017

The meeting was called to order by Chairman Marion Hoeve at 5:30 p.m.

Present:   Chairman Marion Hoeve, Vice-Chairman/Secretary Jack Vander Meulen, Members LaVerne Johnson, Ken Bosma, Norm Nykamp, and Ed Zylstra.  Also present were Assistant Planner & Zoning Administrator Corey Broersma, and Planning Consultant David Jirousek.

Absent: Member Dennis Gebben

Mr. Hoeve recognized a member of the public (Mr. Fitzgerald) and heard his comments in regards to the keeping of bees for future consideration.

 

Mr. Hoeve invited Mr. Jirousek to continue the review of the provided Zoning Ordinance Update Project Review Draft dated June 6, 2017 (Articles 1-7, 15, & 23) and June 9, 2017 (Article 8-9):

Article 1 – Title and Purpose

PART II – Zoning Districts

Article 2 – Zoning Districts and Map

Article 3 – Agriculture Districts

Article 4 – Residential Districts

Article 5 – Commercial and Office Districts

Article 6 – Industrial Districts

Article 9 – Special Use Requirements

Article 23 – Land Use Definitions

Commissioners and Staff discussed various topics.  Mr. Broersma indicate a New Community Development Director (Mr. John Said) had been selected and would be joining the Township in the coming weeks.  Mr. Broersma will review the zoning district uses and the PUD with Mr. Said.

Mr. Jirousek provided a Zoning Ordinance Update Project Review Draft dated July 18, 2017 consisting of Articles 10-12 for the next special meeting. 

Commissioners directed Mr. Jirousek to continue revising the ordinance for the next special meeting.  It was suggested the next meeting begin with Article 9.20 – Mineral Extraction.

Next Special Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at 5:30 PM. 

The meeting adjourned at 8:03 PM
